MIL-STD 130 Marking Criteria
MIL-STD 130 provides the item marking criteria for development of specific marking requirements and methods for identification of items of military property produced, stocked, stored, and issued by or for the Department of Defense (DoD). This standard addresses criteria and data content for both free text and machine-readable information (MRI) applications for identification marking of U.S. military property.
Common label requirements include; 2D (PDF417) bar code, linear (Code 39) bar code, NSN/NATO stock number, CAGE code, PN or P/N (part number), item description, Quantity and UI, Contract number or purchase order number. PIIN (procurement instrument identification number, four-digit delivery order or call number, modification for change order number, military preservation method and date of unit preservation, shelf life, serial number, TCN (Transportation Control Number, and HAZMAT markings.
